MY STORY
I am a vibrant, outgoing, and caring person, I ultimately strive for happiness and success in my life. I understand these things are achieved through challenges which I am eager to take on while also learning from my mistakes. I matured at a young age due to my goals not matching with my environment and my opportunities being separate from my emotional ties. I was raised anticipating and knowing university was in my future, but once high school approached and I furthered my education, it wasn't until grade 12 I realized I wasn't ready for school, especially university, I was 17, barely had my license, couldn't memorize for the life of me and was a hands-on learner. I ended up taking 8 months off, worked full time, turned 18 and moved out and away from Nairn Centre to Sudbury to start my journey to a diploma at Cambrian.
MYÂ Â
COLLEGE JOURNEY
The lessons I've learned
I started a college business program based on the abilities I had; communication and mathematical skills.
I was scared to start college at 18 and honestly didn't know what I wanted as a career. But throughout college, I found a job on campus, found the right group of people and used all the resources available to me, which helped me feel like part of the Cambrian Community.
I will graduate from a college marketing program with an overall better understanding of myself, the industry I plan on entering and the new opportunities available for me every day.

Year 1
My first year introduced me to business concepts, which at the time I didn't understand the importance of those classes but now they are the foundation of my skills. I developed soft and technical skills like professionalism, software knowledge, and time management that ultimately helped me complete the business administration program. My teacher's in this year really influenced my drive to succeed based on their experience in the industry and the challenges they've faced in order to succeed. Studying through the summer, during my second semester, helped me prioritize my future and education and definitely tested my ability to organize my time.Â
The continuing of my education was now planned and graduating with a general business diploma was my goal.
Year 2
My second year is where I found my passion for the business world and became more involved in the Cambrian School of Business. I attended more school events such as spaghetti suppers and business club meetings to really find my niche. This year helped me realize my strengths; leadership within groups, cases study financial sections and problem-solving through assignments that mimicked real-life situations. I had classes that showcased my creativity and really helped me piece together the theory I learned in my previous year. The connections I made with students, my on-campus co-workers and faculty within those 2 semesters really motivated me to be the best student I could be while creating a positive environment for me to make mistakes but also grow in. Which led to my decision of continuing into the 3rd year of school focused on marketing in attempts to enhance my experience through an 8-week placement and really understand the industry I am entering.
Year 3
My third year was intense. During my first semester, I had classes that challenged all of me while I also took on a marketing competition on my own time with the Cambrian School fo Business. In the second semester, I was challenged with condensed courses during the first half and a short-lived-placement due to a global pandemic. I was blessed with opportunities and memories this year that make up for the intense and stressful moments. I had the experience to work with a non-profit, I learned hands-on about analytics through Google, I met local business owners and heard their stories, I presented my solutions current stores challenges in front of major business owners and industry leaders. This year tested me and with that, I was able to demonstrate my problem-solving skills and my ability to learn from those challenges and be proactive. I strongly believe that my third year proved to me I am ready to be a strong and successful businesswomen.

CAMBRIAN COMMUNITY
Events  & Extracurriculars
OCMC 2019
Ontario College Marketing Competition was held in Niagra Falls in November 2019. This event is for 2nd and 3rd-year business students in the marketing stream, the idea is to present solutions for a case to that business owner or marketing staff in attempts to offer a valuable solution all in a 45-minute time frame. The ability to create a professional network and an introduction to the industry are what create value for participants.
I had the opportunity to be part of the Cambrian OCMC team and I agreed not really knowing what I was getting into. This turned out to be a great experience where I was able to learn more about marketing and really understand how to present myself while being part of a supportive team and representing Cambrian.
SANTA PHOTOS
In attempts to raise funds for the following year's OCMCÂ students. The 2019 Cambrian OCMC team arranged for Santa to come to Cambrian and take photos and all the funds are raised for the next years's team's hotel rooms, travel, and food.
This was a very fun event and I was able to be a part of both days of photo sessions with Santa and the elves. I had the role of sending the pictures to the recipients once they were edited and sorted. The idea of bringing some cheer during the holidays was joy itself but knowing the opportunity we're giving students next year.
CAMBRIAN BUSINESS CLUB
A student-run club in attempts to bring exciting events to the Business School students and raising funds for the following events for the Business School.
I was only able to participate in the club for a semester and volunteer when convenient due to the fact that students' schedules wouldn't all work with the time slot for the meetings. I did enjoy planning fun activities within my time there and understanding how the different years all experienced colleges and the diversity in students. Also, we had the opportunity to plan an event for the International Students which helped me learn more about their culture and activities.
LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON
This is a conference where local Greater Sudbury business owners are able to explain their business history, challenges they faced and any questions the audience has. The conference helps enforce entrepreneurship, to shop more locally, give networking tips and experience and be more involved locally in the chamber of commerce events.
Cambrian offered business students the opportunity to attend this event, which is always available and the tickets are limited. This was my first time representing Cambrian and also being able to see first hand where this program can lead to.
